Instagram keeps your saved posts in a closed silo. Pile reads your official data export, fetches the posts you set aside and their captions, then summarizes. Your saved inspirations and recipes become findable again.

Request your Instagram export
In Instagram settings, request the download of your information. You get a ZIP that contains your saved posts.

Drop the ZIP into Pile
Open Connect, pick Instagram Saved, drag in the exported file. Pile detects the list of saves.

Pile fetches each saved post, its caption and its links, then your AI summarizes and tags by theme.

Find a recipe or tutorial you saved
You saved a post with step-by-step instructions (recipe, DIY tutorial, workout) and cannot find it in your Instagram collection. Pile indexes the full caption. You type a few words from the recipe and the post comes straight up.
Build a themed inspiration library
You save broadly: decor, typography, photography. In Instagram everything piles into one collection. In Pile you sort your saves into themed vaults with indexed captions. Your references are there when you need them.
Get your saves out of the Instagram silo
Your saved posts are only accessible inside the Instagram app. With the official export, Pile imports them once and makes them searchable and exportable to Obsidian or Notion. Your content belongs to you, independent of the platform.

If something breaks
The Instagram export does not contain my saved posts
In Instagram settings, make sure to select "Account information" and to include the "Saved content" section in the data you request. If that section is missing from the ZIP you receive, submit the request again and explicitly tick that category.
Post images are not showing in Pile
The official Instagram export contains metadata and captions for saved posts, but not always the image files themselves. Pile indexes what is in the export. Images may be absent depending on what Instagram includes in the ZIP at the time of your request.
